Teachers as Writers: Opportunities

File:Stipula fountain pen.jpgIf you’re a teacher who is interested in sharing your ideas with a wider audience, here are a few publications that accept submissions for lesson plans and short articles:

  • Teaching Tolerance: Accepts pitches for articles, blog posts and individual lessons (check out their published lessons before submitting an idea). Writers receive $250 for accepted submissions.
  • NCTE: Educators can submit proposals for lesson plans and then will be asked to write a complete lesson plan for review if their pitch is accepted. Writers receive $350 for published lessons.
  • Learning Matters: Write 300-500 words on why you teach; submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • C. Jayne Teach (K-6 Educators): Found from a cursory Internet search… “I love to hear about original, exciting, and “light-bulb moment” lessons for the elementary school teacher (K-6). If you think you have a great idea that other teachers can benefit from, take pictures, write up a summary and send them to me for submission!”

What am I missing? Please add to the list!
